Morphometric Analyses of Taste Receptors of Tongues of selected Mammals
Article Details
To study of morphometric analysis of taste receptors of tongues of selected mammals. All the experiments methods were done on five different species belonging to Class mammalia. The experiments study were conducted in the mammals such as three striped palm squirrel (Funambulus palmarum) order – Rodentia, rat (Rattus rattus) order – Rodentia, Bat (Hipposiderous sperios) order – Chiroptera, rabbit (Oryctolagus cunniculus) order – Rodentia and Mongoose – (Herpestes edwarsii) order – carnivora. The results suggest that morphological analyses of all fungiform papillae on the anterior tongue, the single circumvallate papilla on the posterior tongue, and all taste buds in both papilla types. To determine the areas of the tongue that respond to each of the four taste sensations, develop an understanding of the concept of threshold and determine the threshold at which areas of the tongue will respond to taste sensations.
